A Life So Carefree and All Play

I often think of my childhood and usually the first picture that pops in my head is the Old Trailer Court playground. The first part of my childhood I grew up in the Old Peabody Trailer Court, space #28. We lived in a small green silver bullet! I loved it! We had grass, trees, flowers, and a pear tree! It was perfect and the playground was just around the corner! But what I did not like was the mean dog that would bark whenever we walked through the alley that lead to the playground. I remember when I walk to the bus in the morning I would hear the sprinklers chirping, and the smell of grass, and those orange-like small berries. I pick a few and throw them at things. I loved it and I felt safe and happy!
Now I think of my kids and its a total different world for them. Its more fast paced and I dare not let my children play at the playground by themselves, let alone walk there by themselves. Crazy how things have changed! But I have a hope that I have provided a place for them where they feel safe and happy!!
As a child life seems care free, fun, and all play and play. But as a parent, life has a different perspective. Those carefree days turn into responsibility, stress, heartache, work, and etc... But I guess without these road blocks in our way, I don't think we truly would understand happiness! It's all part of growing up and learning!

One thing about being a parent that I love is having an understanding of why kids do the things they do, because hey, I was once a kid too! I often kick myself in the butt for gettin mad over some silly thing my child has done, and later realize their intentions was something so sweet and so loving. Sometimes I'm able to remember that and I let them get dirty, makes messes, and just simply let them express themselves!
I love my children with all my heart and because of them I have learned that greater love does exist. Its true what they say, " You never knew you could love someone that much in that instant they are in your arms. And the neat thing about it, is they love you just as much or even more back!
I'm truly grateful for my mother! I find that I have a lot of her in me and when I recognize those characteristic in me, I feel grateful.
And one day my children will be parents and hopefully they can say the same thing.. :)
